Resin art is the use of resins to create art. WELZIE's history as a board builder for Two Crows Surfboards was the perfect catalyst for combining his creativity with the resin medium. The resin art is created s the same way surfboards are built. This process creates a distinct look as wood gets laminated with white pigmented resin and fiberglass. This creates a unique canvas like background. Next, the paintings get attacked with colored pigmented resins leftover from the surfboards. Paintings are then coated with a clear layer of resin to be sanded, creating a vibrant and flat background surface for WELZIE's inked images. The paintings get finished with another layer of resin over the inked art, which gets sanded and polished. Paintings are durable and resistent to water, dents, and sun. Just like a surfboard.
