Haleiwa is the mecca for surfing and the Anahulu Bridge serves as the entryway to Oahu’s famous North Shore. Sand People in Haleiwa approached us about doing a mural of Haleiwa’s Iconic bridge and we were so stoked to brighten up the community and pay homage to the beautiful “Rainbow bridge”

    The Anahulu bridge or “Rainbow Bridge”, means so much to me. I have worked in the sugar mill for 15 years and drive through the giant white arches almost every day. Drivers have their Aloha tested when the busses have to wait for a kind motorist to allow the bigger vehicles to pass through the narrow bridge. This common curtesy always get a big Shaka from the oversized drivers who take up both lanes.

     With help from the team, Chieko, Matt, and Dan, we were able to complete the mural in 4 days, with a bit of weather delay in between. The mural was a little bit challenging due to the tongue and groove exterior and the wood slats covering long gone windows. We figured it all out and in the end the mural came out bright and beautiful with great positive feedback from the community.
